Safer travels

  • Traveling has become even safer, thanks to 500-backed biotech startup Prenetics. It has launched the Circle HealthPod for COVID-19 pre-departure testing at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA). 
  • The Circle HealthPod enables rapid molecular testing to travelers, producing results in less than 60 minutes from swabbing.
  • According to the statement, negative results are currently accepted by 13 countries, including the USA, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Travelers will be notified of their test results via their digital passport, SMS, and email.
  • Tests are processed at Prenetics’ internationally-accredited airport laboratory. Prenetics is currently operating six such laboratories, with the other five located in the United Kingdom.

A productive year

  • As the pandemic continues to pose challenges throughout 2021, 500-backed fintech startup Wallex is closing the year with important milestones
  • The startup focuses on business-to-business (B2B) solutions such as overseas payments and cash management.
  • This year, it grew its team in Hong Kong and forged partnerships to strengthen its service offerings. Wallex launched its ‘buy now pay later’ program in collaboration with Funding Societies and began delivering international payment solutions with ipaymy and Aspire.
  • To date, the company reported that their  Gross Transaction Value (GTV) has exceeded US$3.6 billion.
