- 500-backed insurtech company YAS and taxi fleet JOIE teamed up to introduce an AI-powered insurance solution. Based on real-time driving behavior analysis, it paves the way for smarter, safer urban mobility.
- In the first phase, 1,000 hybrid and electric taxis will be deployed, each equipped with YAS TAXY, a proprietary AI system that uses real-time data such as hard braking, sharp turns, and time of operation, to dynamically assess risk and adjust premiums.
- Coupled with an incentive-based rewards program, the system is designed to encourage safe driving, reduce accidents, and insurance costs, and accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles to support emission reduction efforts.
- Co-founder William Lee shared, "We created YAS TAXY with the goal of quantifying and recognizing safe driving behavior — shifting how insurance and fleet operations are fundamentally structured. This collaboration with JOIE is a major step forward in applying smart mobility in real-world settings, where technology moves beyond the backend to make a tangible impact on daily road safety and public trust."
- The initiative also supports the smart mobility vision in Hong Kong’s upcoming Smart City Blueprint 3.0, helping Hong Kong build a safer, more efficient, and people-centric urban transport system.
