Daily Markup #422: Haulio raises US$7M to fuel regional growth; Glints & Haulio in top 10 fastest-growing companies in Singapore; Parcel Perform grows its team by 150%

Loading up

  • 500-backed digital logistics startup Haulio has raised US$7 million in a Series A funding round led by Temasek unit Heliconia Capital.
  • New investors from China, Taiwan, South Korea, and South Africa participated in the round. According to Haulio, the funds will be used to drive stronger haulage capabilities, enhance service quality, elevate product engineering and development, reinforce talent acquisition, and scale Haulio’s continued regional growth.  
  • The startup claims to have transacted more than two million containers since 2017, with over 50% of the transactions completed in 2021 alone. It expects to triple its revenue by the end of the year.
  • Haulio added that since it entered the Thai market in April 2021, it has aggregated more than 3,000 hauliers onto its platform, transacted over 500,000 containers, and crossed seven figures in revenue.

Making a mark

  • Two 500-backed startups have been named in The Straits Times’ list of top 10 fastest growing companies in Singapore.
  • Haulio makes the list at number 3 with a compound annual growth rate of 223.8%. The startup claims to be Southeast Asia’s largest container haulage platform. Driven by technology, it empowers hauliers to operate more efficiently.
  • At number 4 is Glints Intern at a compound annual growth rate of 209%. Glints is an online talent recruitment and career discovery platform. It aims to increase the employability of young talents through internships and graduate jobs.

A neat package

  • In a joint interview, co-founders of 500-backed Parcel Perform, Arne Jeroschewski and Dana von der Heide, reflected on the startup’s milestones and growth in 2021.
  • According to Arne, the team grew 150% across Singapore, Europe, and Vietnam in just under a year. “I’m proud that 16 nationalities and 18 spoken languages represent our efforts to build a truly global team,” he said.
  • Dana said that the startup is in a new growth phase and it is working at strengthening its core business and technology teams. She shared that its goal for 2022 is to open multiple new offices, with the United States being one of its key expansion markets.
  • Last year, the startup supported a wide range of clientele. It helped Nespresso expand and rollout into South America. It also helped direct-to-consumer brands to develop and scale their e-commerce operations, such as creating personalized parcel tracking pages for their consumers.
